Red - Orange represents
groundedness, earthly practicalities, and fiery dynamism. Change
could sometimes be painful. Change is acted out and made real
in observable practical ways and grounded in reality. The red-orange
also represent playfulness, fun and the celebration of change
and victories. COACHES AND COACHINGCoaching is done a pool of coaches, many of whom are working

Karen McKenzie |
![]() |
As humans we often travel though life on auto-pilot, waiting
for the next beacon, either in the form of another boss or some
direction giving human or an event, that will let us know that
it is time to change course. We masterfully deliver these Kamikaze
moves, self-destructing and becoming our own limitations. Coaching
is for Karen about taking position in the pilot’s seat again,
taking control of the direction you are choosing, recognising
alternatives and actively doing, being and having what you want
for your journey. Living your potential …doing so with awareness,
gratitude and an ability to replicate your excellence.
Karen has trained as a coach through the Metaskills Institute
in 2005 and furthered her studies as a Master NLP (Neuro Linguistic
Practitioner) and Hypnotherapist in 2007. She is also in the process
of accrediting as an Enneagram assessor. Her tertiary studies
were concluded through the University of Pretoria in the fields
of Political Science and Travel and Tourism. Her coaching career
includes one-on- one coaching on senior and managerial level in
the industries of banking, recruitment, engineering, government
and social responsibility. She is a regular contributor on a South
African parenting TV show and is committed to lifelong learning
and personal transformation. Most of all, she is passionate about
this country, its people and the incredible journeys of discovery
that she will be invited to co-pilot.

COACHING SOUTH AFRICA does not subscribe to any particular approach
or school of coaching. Neither do we prescribe any rigid approach
to coaches. We recognise the value from recognised approaches
and how they could complement each other as well as how they express
and enrich our organisational values and ethos.
Our general approach to coaching represents a positive and generative
process of change towards reaching practical goals for individuals,
teams and groups, i.e. always “going beyond” from
where you are to where you want to be.
Most coaches were trained in the Meta-coaching and the Integral-coaching
approaches.
COACHING SOUTH AFRICA wants to contribute towards setting and
practicing positive standards for coaching as a newly established
profession in South Africa. Empowering our clients with knowledge
on what coaching entails is part of this endeavour.
A variety of policies and procedures are in place to ensure that
proper quality is maintained in the appointment of coaches as
well as during the coaching process. Coaches are to be regularly
benchmarked on basic skills, competencies and vocational commitments.
We assure that Continued Professional Development (CPD) takes
place and that coaches’ performance and development are
being monitored and mentored.
