OUR BUSINESS IDENTITY

History

During 2007 a group of coaches decided to pool resources with a view of providing greater product diversity and creating new possibilities in the field of coaching. COACHING SOUTH AFRICA cc was formed.

The result was a dynamic and unique model for effective coaching.

Our coaches represent a rich variety of experience, expertise and qualifications.

As a business venture, COACHING SOUTH AFRICA embodies flexibility and possibility. It prides itself as a coaching venture that is accountable to high ethical and professional standards.

Vision

COACHING SOUTH AFRICA provides customised coaching services of the highest calibre as a coaching company of choice to more and more individuals, teams and organisations in South Africa and beyond.

Mission

COACHING SOUTH AFRICA provides:

Self-sustainable personal and organisational growth, development and transformation in
...South Africa and beyond, through coaching and coaching-related interventions.
A variety of high quality coaching services enabling us to develop flexible and customised service
...packages.
A wide range of well qualified coaches and trainers with a wealth of qualifications, expertise
...and experience.
Assistance to new coaches in gaining market access.
Abundance to clients and to ourselves.

Values and ethos

Our work and organisation is informed and driven by:

Trust and respect - The foundations of all our relationships.
Excellence with integrity - The stamp of quality of our services.
Authenticity - Appreciating and valuing uniqueness.
Abundance with accountability - A multiple value-add with responsibility. . .to clients and to us.
Love, light and laughter - Business, people and change are serious fun.

Name, motto, logo and colours

Our choice of motto and colours as well as the design of the logo represent the dynamic process of positive change. It also represents our coaching approach: always ‘going beyond’.

Name
“COACHING SOUTH AFRICA” signifies:

Our commitment towards positive and self-sustained change through coaching and
...coaching-related services.
South Africa is our primary commitment and the primary context within which we work.

Motto
Our motto is: UNLOCKING, UNLEASHING AND CELEBRATING EXCELLENCE
This applies to clients and to us.

Logo

The seed of potential: Though perhaps inconspicuous and thereby seemingly insignificant, the “seed” in the logo is the central focus of our attention. It represents potential. The spiral of growth develops from the seed and feeds from the seed. The seed becomes the spiral.

The box of (self-) limitation: We allow ourselves to be boxed-in in many different ways, mostly to our own detriment and self-limitation. Positive change means to think, feel and live outside comfort zones, “outside the box”. Consider this: Dissolve the box

The spiral of positive change: The spiral represents progress, growth, development, and even transformation towards higher and different thoughts and feelings, different ways of talking about ourselves and our circumstances, as well as different actions, behaviour, performance. As such the spiral represents positive change towards what we want to achieve

Colours

Blue - Violet represents more serious, higher or deeper thoughts and feelings and the big picture.

Red - Orange represents groundedness, earthly practicalities, and fiery dynamism. Change could sometimes be painful. Change is acted out and made real in observable practical ways and grounded in reality. The red-orange also represent playfulness, fun and the celebration of change and victories.

The combination of the blue-violet and red-orange in both the seed and the spiral indicates light and shadow. Ultimately change is driven by a powerful interaction between higher thoughts and insights combined with the practicalities of actions within a particular context.

Coaches

Karen McKenzie

Gaining most of her corporate and leadership experience in the aviation industry, it may not be coincidental that Karen approaches coaching from the following point of departure: No one has ever collided with the sky…

As humans we often travel though life on auto-pilot, waiting for the next beacon, either in the form of another boss or some direction giving human or an event, that will let us know that it is time to change course. We masterfully deliver these Kamikaze moves, self-destructing and becoming our own limitations. Coaching is for Karen about taking position in the pilot’s seat again, taking control of the direction you are choosing, recognising alternatives and actively doing, being and having what you want for your journey. Living your potential …doing so with awareness, gratitude and an ability to replicate your excellence.

Karen has trained as a coach through the Metaskills Institute in 2005 and furthered her studies as a Master NLP (Neuro Linguistic Practitioner) and Hypnotherapist in 2007. She is also in the process of accrediting as an Enneagram assessor. Her tertiary studies were concluded through the University of Pretoria in the fields of Political Science and Travel and Tourism. Her coaching career includes one-on- one coaching on senior and managerial level in the industries of banking, recruitment, engineering, government and social responsibility. She is a regular contributor on a South African parenting TV show and is committed to lifelong learning and personal transformation. Most of all, she is passionate about this country, its people and the incredible journeys of discovery that she will be invited to co-pilot.

Rakhee Nathoo

“I challenge my clients to settle for nothing less than their true, self-defined excellence. In this way I contribute to the transformation of the world into a place of purpose and fulfilment.”

Rakhee believes that her purpose in life is to assist people find their purpose toward the ultimate goal of living a meaningful and high quality of life – whatever that might mean for each individual. Consequently, she encourages people to focus on their strengths whilst developing a healthy balance through a conscious approach to life. Work is an essential vehicle to the expression of purpose – it is that much more fun when done to the best of one’s ability.

Variety being the spice of life for Rakhee, she has always and continues to approach her career from many different perspectives. Her experience in the corporate world ranges from consulting (IT Strategy and Enterprise Architecture, Business Analysis, IT Portfolio Management), to project management, line management, and executive management. Her skills were mostly applied to projects of a strategic nature within the Utilities, Manufacturing, Software and Banking industries.

Rakhee obtained her bachelors and post-graduate B Com (Hons) degrees (First Class), at The University of the Witwatersrand. She has obtained coaching certifications through the internationally recognized Metaskills Institute. Her interests include Leadership, Spiritual Intelligence and Mind-body Healing amongst others. As a coach she has found a new form of expression for her passion for life, always believing in the highest potential of people.

Through ongoing learning about life’s fundamental keys to success, she gains new insights into improving her coaching abilities. The belief in the exponential effect that each individual has on the world is what drives her to achieve success.

Stiaan van der Merwe (dr.)

To Stiaan, coaching is an art of change and growth. The prime artists are the individuals, teams and groups whom he coaches. To him it is a life-honour to be a witness to as well as a co-facilitator and co-creator of the positive changes for instance in people’s performance at work, their work situations, meeting their business, professional, career and life goals and also where Boards and business units becoming teams and working as teams and then reap the benefits beyond the areas they have focussed on during a coaching process. These self-worked miracles and magic are his greatest rewards.

Stiaan has 30 plus years of work experience covering: executive management positions; management consultancy; lecturing and training; counselling; research, and; being a resource person and public speaker. Coaching approach

COACHING SOUTH AFRICA does not subscribe to any particular approach or school of coaching. Neither do we prescribe any rigid approach to coaches. We recognise the value from recognised approaches and how they could complement each other as well as how they express and enrich our organisational values and ethos.

Our general approach to coaching represents a positive and generative process of change towards reaching practical goals for individuals, teams and groups, i.e. always “going beyond” from where you are to where you want to be.

Most coaches were trained in the Meta-coaching and the Integral-coaching approaches.

COACHING SOUTH AFRICA wants to contribute towards setting and practicing positive standards for coaching as a newly established profession in South Africa. Empowering our clients with knowledge on what coaching entails is part of this endeavour.

A variety of policies and procedures are in place to ensure that proper quality is maintained in the appointment of coaches as well as during the coaching process. Coaches are to be regularly benchmarked on basic skills, competencies and vocational commitments. We assure that Continued Professional Development (CPD) takes place and that coaches’ performance and development are being monitored and mentored.
